10 Ways to Fall in Love With Yourself Again | Kerisha Deans | So Unusual Girl

Life is life, and things happen that make us question who we are and where our life is heading. It’s inevitable that life will throw us off our high horses at times, but promise to always get right back up like a champion. I have a naturally positive outlook on life and things, and yes, some of it is quite naive, but that will never change. Learn to love yourself and fall so deeply in love with yourself that nothing and no one will break you. Here are 10 things I do to fall back in love with myself when life throws me blows:

  1. Smile at strangers. When I am at my nethermost, I will not even look at strangers, but when I am at my best, I always smile with my head held high (literally). So what do I do when I need to fall in love with myself again? I fall in love with the exquisiteness of life and its people as I walk by. To get a positive return on life, give positive energy off, and nothing does that like a simple smile.
  2. Read books. free-vector-detailed-vector-books_008008_4Yes, read books, and lots of books. I go back to my Amazon wish list, and I buy the books I have always wanted or go back into my library and read the 100 unread books waiting for me to turn the pages.
    1. It’s fulfilling
    2. I learn to improve myself (work, relationships, career, money, etc.)
    3. And some books even make me laugh my butt off, even in public when I am running in the park.
    4. Concerned about time? If you drive to work, listen to audio books (do it while working out as well), and if you ride public transportation, download the free Kindle app on your phone and read there.
  3. Goal setting. Yes, when you find that you have fallen out of love with yourself and you may even be questioning your existence (been there), get a book, and write down your goals.
    1. I find that no matter how big or small the goals are; it feels amazing knowing that I still have that sense that I can do anything I want to do. Life is free and waiting to be conquered.
  4. Healthy habits. yoga-310940I know I am in a terrible place when I find myself wallowing in the most self-defeatist habits, so I quit them and pick up the best habits ever.
    1. Exercise anyone?
    2. Time alone – I love to use this time to meditate (but if Netflix is your thing, do it!)
    3. Say no to family and friends because that’s what you feel like doing.
      1. Learning to say “no” and “yes” at appropriate times is crucial to your life’s success.
    4. Do absolutely nothing or everything, just do what pleases you.
  5. Be selfish. I am exposed and very generous, and at times I get weary of it. Fall in love with yourself by being so damn selfish. You are number one in your life, and you should always be number one in your life. You are worth everything else you gave to someone from the past, so give yourself all that and then some.
  6. Wellness. workout-2Get a checkup for every single reason you haven’t. Have you ever heard of “skinny fat?” A lot of us fall deep into that category, but you will never know until it is too late and you have to be on medication. Just take care of yourself.
    1. Change your lifestyle through diet and exercise; it is really not that hard – but it is tough if you keep telling yourself it is.
    2. If you have a thousand reasons why you can’t improve yourself, then yes, they are all valid because you are allowing it.
  7. Social. Go out, on your own, and do not invite friends or family. Meet who you want to, and mingle with who you want to. You’d be surprised to see the cool people you meet when your energy is the energy attracting them.
  8. Finances. moneybox-158346_640Get your finances in check. Take some hours and see if you are meeting your goals, and if you have no financial goals, make sure you are making it a part of #3 goal setting.
    1. How are those student loans?
    2. Do you have a financial advisor?
    3. Do you invest?
    4. How about those savings?
  9. Faith. Have faith and reconnect with your spirituality (religious or non-religious).
    1. Having a strong spiritual bond with yourself is the best thing to center your world.
  10. Charity. hands-1234037_640 Don’t allow others to define you, and don’t allow your past to determine your present and future. It does not matter what you were, become who you want to become.
    1. Giving your time to strangers through genuine volunteer is the most amazing feeling in the world, and it will guarantee that you will love yourself for it.
      1. Only do it for the right thing; don’t do it so that you can say you did it.
      2. Don’t do it just to make yourself feel better than those you are helping or those who aren’t volunteering.
      3. Don’t do it just to meet fancy people and get a name for yourself (too many people do this, and it is despicable).
      4. Do it because your heart is pure and genuine.

Loving oneself means understanding what is happening with your life. You have to be conscious and open to improvement. Loving oneself means doing everything you can to pilot your life in the path of the best outcomes for you. You attract who you are; if you are not well, then you will attract the same type of people into your life. Fall in love with yourself by getting yourself together; it feels amazing. Falling in love with yourself is just as easy as falling in love with someone else; look for your best qualities, and work on improving those that lack quality.

Great stuff! The only one I’m probably weak on is #9, faith. I’m not religious and lately I’ve lost faith in human nature so I’m a bit deficient on that one. I love the rest though, especially #1. 🙂
